Prof. Tang received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Physics and Chemistry from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academic and Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Wenbo Bu in 2019. From 2019-2021, he was a postdoc associate in the laboratory of Prof. Omid Farokhzad and Prof. Wei Tao in the Center for Nanomedicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School. From 2021-2023, he was a research associate in the laboratory of Prof. Weibo Cai at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has published more than 20 papers as first or corresponding author in leading international journals such as Nature Reviews Materials, Chemical Reviews, PNAS, Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Matter, with over 9,000 total citations and an H-index of 42.
Prof. Tang joined Prof. Jianlin Shi’s team at Tongji University in 2023 as a Full Professor in the Biomedical Engineering division at the School of Medicine. He is also a tenured Associate Professor, Research Fellow, as well as act as a master and doctoral supervisor at the School of Medicine, Tongji University. He has been awarded and leads several prestigious programs, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas), the Shanghai Leading Talent Program (Overseas), and the Tongji University “Young Hundred Talents Program” (Position A). His research focuses on the design and fabrication of novel nanomedicines to achieve disease mitigation and treatment through metabolic regulation strategies.
Prof. Tang currently serves as associate editor of Journal of Nanobiotechnology (CAS Q1, IF = 12.6), a member of the editorial board of medical innovation, and a young editorial board member for journals including Nano-Micro Letters, Military Medical Research, and BMTMat. He has been consecutively listed among the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists and is the recipient of the 2025 emerging investigators awards from Biomaterials Science and Nanoscale.
